SLH and Hyatt are offering 3,000 bonus World of Hyatt points on all SLH stays booked through Hyatt.

As the bonus is per stay, the bonus points could represent a good rebate on short stays. If you find yourself in a city or region with multiple SLH properties, you might wish to switch hotels to bag the bonus again.

Long-time Upgrade Your Trip readers will remember that Hyatt announced a partnership with Small Luxury Hotels  of the World (SLH) a while ago. Members of Hyatt's World of Hyatt loyalty scheme can now earn and redeem Hyatt points at some SLH properties.

On top, booking a paid stay at a SLH hotel through Hyatt.com gets you following benefits:

• Daily complimentary continental breakfast for two
• Room upgrade (one category at check-in if available)
• Early check-in (12pm, if available at check-in)
• Late check-out (2:00pm, if available at check-in)
• Free Wi-Fi

Booking through Hyatt may occasionally be slightly more expensive than booking directly with SLH. But the free breakfast for two and the complimentary wifi should help you recoup that small premium easily. And that is before factoring in the value of the Hyatt points you'll earn. Note, though, that you will only earn World of Hyatt points on the room rate (but not on food & beverages or spa expenses).

Having said that, my bottom line is that unless benefits are guaranteed, they are not worth much because the hotel can simply wriggle its way out of granting them due to 'being fully booked'. So don't rely on getting that free upgrade or late check-out.
