About

Hi there,

This is my personal blog about all things air miles, hotel points and affordable travel. Preferably premium travel.

Why another travel blog you might ask. Well, this blog is about luxury travel on a millennial's budget. In fact, I started Upgrade Your Trip (UYT) at university as I sought ways to travel as comfortably as possible for as little cash as possible. I play the positioning game--booking cheap premium tickets by starting the trip somewhere other than London/the UK. I'll often pay less for my premium cabin travels than those in economy class. Whereas my US readers have access to incredible credit card sign-up bonuses, offering tens of thousands--sometimes hundreds of thousands--of miles, those of us in Europe are less fortunate. But we can still buy points to bring down the cost of our premium travel. UYT puts these strategies to use and shows that everyone can travel luxuriously with a few tricks. I'm passionate about not wasting money and squeezing maximum value out of the budget I have available. I hope that this blog will inspire others and help them make their travel dreams come true.

Whilst I obviously prefer premium cabins and luxury hotels, I do take advantage of bargain economy fares. I'll also book a cheap rate at budget hotels--to rack up points quickly during promotions. Or on the odd occasion when all other options are prohibitively expensive. I'll chronicle most of these travels striving to explore a balance between high-end and budget/mid-range hotels in the cities I visit.

Upgrade Your Trip offers a millennial's view on:

  • tips and tricks to maximise loyalty points;
  • bargain airfares and hotel rates;
  • flight and hotel reviews;
  • industry news.
All travel is paid for by myself unless otherwise stated. I have taken all photos and videos on this blog, unless otherwise indicated, with the excellent Sony RX100V or my Samsung S20 Ultra.

If you are new to the hobby, I recommend you begin by reading through my 'how to guides' to get you started with easy-to-read and step-by-step strategies. Also make sure you check out the Frequent Flyer video.

Funding

Sharing tips and tricks about making your loyalty points take off is my hobby. At no cost to you, I do earn a small commission from the referral and affiliate links as well as ads featured on this site. Please consider using these links as they are necessary to keep this site active.

UYT's editorial independence is really important to me. Everything featured on this blog represents  great-value deals and advice. I also blog about service providers/ merchants I don't have affiliate links for, so you can always be sure that the content UYT features is there because I believe it is genuinely interesting rather because I've been paid to write it.

Liability disclaimer

I try my best to ensure that the information I share is correct and up-to-date, but there may be occasions when I miss something. I make no warranties, representations or undertakings about any of the content on upgradeyourtrip.com (including, without limitation, any as to the quality, accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose of such content); or any content of any other website referred to or accessed by hypertext link through upgradeyourtrip.com ('third party site'). I do not endorse or approve the content of any third-party site, nor will I have any liability in connection with any of them. Nothing in these webpages constitutes buying or financial advice. upgradeyourtrip.com is a journalistic blog about loyalty points and if you do decide to purchase a product I have written about, it is your own responsibility to ensure that the product fits your circumstances and to check the terms and conditions before committing. I assume no responsibility if you book a flight but do not receive a promotion bonus I have written about, for example. Likewise, nothing on this website constitutes financial advice. Unlike other bloggers, I'm not after bagging a bonus for referring you to a credit card. That's why I do not write about loyalty credit cards. Unlike other bloggers, I also do not write about error fares. Airlines rarely honour them these days. As error fares get widely published on blogs and other fora, they can lead to the zeroing out of an airline's premium cabin inventory, leaving the airline with no choice but to cancel. It is my view that the hassle for those who purchased an error fare ticket (e.g. loss of time and money) makes booking such obvious mistake fares unattractive. None of the content is reviewed or endorsed by any of the companies about whose products I write, unless otherwise stated.

The views expressed on this blog reflect solely my own. I try to ensure accuracy in the data published but there may be times when changes have occurred since publication. Therefore, please double-check accuracy if you make a decision based on my posts.
