BA spoils passengers in the Concorde Room with Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle champagne. Usually. The airline has run out over the Easter weekend.
The Concorde Room is the most exclusive
British Airways lounge at Heathrow Airport. Access is only granted to ticketed
First passengers and Gold Guest List
cardholders—a status level requiring 5,000 tier points per year. (For
comparison’s sake, Gold requires 1,500, Silver 600 and Bronze 300 tier
points).
In an unimaginative move, BA has attempted to appease irritated
passengers with the Henriot Millésime champagne from the Galleries First
lounge. But the embarrassing incident has already snowballed into an uproar on
Flyertalk: Who drank all the champagne ? [No LPGS in the CCR !!]
The price difference is noteworthy. A bottle
of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle sells for £120 on Amazon; the Henriot substitute for £60.
Yes, this is a first-world problem but I’d
be mad, too, to be honest. If I pay a
premium for BA First, I expect to sip a premium bubbly… I really don't see the difficulty in ensuring sufficient stock. BA certainly can't blame this one on adverse weather...
Anyone up for starting a crowdfunding
campaign to ensure BA’s Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle supply? :D :D :D
