This quarter, however, no such bonus is offered. Instead, there is a chance:
- to receive 1,000 free Virgin miles simply for opting to 'auto-convert' future Clubcard points to Virgin Flying Club. Nothing would stop you from opting out once the miles have posted and before the next Clubcard collection period ends. To take advantage, log into your Clubcard account, head over to 'account management', then 'voucher schemes' and enter your Virgin Flying Club account number.
- to win 50,000 Virgin miles for converting existing Clubcard vouchers.
- to win a trip to Nashville for converting at least £5 of Clubcard vouchers to Avios by 31 May 2018. If you are the winner, BA will fly you and a friend to Nashville in economy class (!) and provide you with four nights' accommodation. You will need to travel between 14 July and 31 October 2018.
I will not be converting my Clubcard vouchers to Avios or Virgin miles this quarter. The odds of winning the 50,000 Flying Club miles are too slim for my taste, and the BA offer--a pair of transatlantic economy flights to Nashville--doesn't appeal to me at all. I would have much preferred a conversion bonus.
I will set my Clubcard account to auto-convert to bag the 1,000 Virgin miles though. The Tesco website makes no mention of this offer, but it is advertised on the Virgin page:
A good alternative is to redeem Clubcard vouchers for Uber credit -- you will receive 3x the face value. A £5 Clubcard voucher will thus convert into:
- 1,200 Avios; or
- 1,250 Virgin miles; or
- £15 of Uber credit
