SWEETSPOT Marriott Category 5 redemption: Roomers Baden-Baden - Deluxe Room

This is my review of the Roomers Baden-Baden.

My travels took me to the German resort town of Baden-Baden just before Easter. With prices in the 250-300€ range a night when I stayed,  I decided to redeem the e-certificate I earned from Marriott's MegaBonus promotion last autumn. A Category 5 Hotel, a redemption costs 25,000 points a night and represents excellent value considering the cash prices!

The hotel is just steps from the Festspielhaus (opera and concert hall) and within easy walking distance of the main shopping and recreational areas in the town centre. Although the hotel is on a main road, it is absolutely quiet inside. There is a secure underground car park. Valet parking costs 24€ a night.

Check-in was friendly. I was offered a glass of sparkling wine and some sweets from the 'candy bar' opposite the reception. As a Marriott Rewards Gold member, I was upgraded to a deluxe room.

The room was very modern and spotless, just how I like it. There's a TV and a Nespresso coffee machine in the cupboard opposite the bed, and a number of USB outlets/ power sockets next to the bed. My only complaint would be the lack of a proper desk, the round table pictured is simply not big enough for anyone looking to work.

The bathroom featured a bathtub and a walk-in shower. The 'dreckig bleiben' branded toiletries came in large pump bottles, so you can't take them with you.

The spa was awesome, with the heated rooftop pool being the stand-out highlight. The gym features the latest TechnoGym equipment--my photo below only shows about half of the equipment.

The hotel has a smoking bar on the ground floor (with a DJ) and a (non-smoking) rooftop bar, both of which serve an excellent selection of drinks in a hip atmosphere.

Breakfast was excellent, too, offering a wide selection of cold and hot food as well as fresh juices and coffee. There's also free-flow sparkling wine on the buffet and I could order as many made-to-order items as I pleased at no additional charge. I usually kick off the day with eggs benedict, but the avocado and egg on bread is the way to go here :D :D Breakfast in the restaurant costs 33€ per person but was on the house thanks to my Marriott Rewards Gold status (no lounge at this property). The service was swift and friendly, despite the hotel being full.

This is an awesome property. The staff are super friendly and the hardware is excellent. Given the cash rates, this is an absolute sweetspot redemption at just 25,000 points a night.

Don't forget that you can earn up to 10,000 bonus points if you are not yet a Marriott Rewards member and I refer you. (2,000 bonus points on each of your first paid five stays). Please email upgradeyourtrip(at)gmail.com for a referral.
