About

Hi there,

This is my personal blog about all things air miles, hotel points and affordable travel. Preferably premium travel.

Why another travel blog you might ask. Well, this blog is about luxury travel on a millennial's budget. In fact, I started Upgrade Your Trip (UYT) at university as I sought ways to travel as comfortably as possible for as little cash as possible. I play the positioning game--booking cheap premium tickets by starting the trip somewhere other my home base. I'll often pay less for my premium cabin travels than those in economy class. Whereas my US readers have access to incredible credit card sign-up bonuses, offering tens of thousands--sometimes hundreds of thousands--of miles, those in Europe are less fortunate. But we can still buy points to bring down the cost of our premium travel. UYT puts these strategies to use and shows that everyone can travel luxuriously with a few tricks. I'm passionate about not wasting money and squeezing maximum value out of the budget I have available. I hope that this blog will inspire others and help them make their travel dreams come true.

Whilst I obviously prefer premium cabins and luxury hotels, I do take advantage of bargain economy fares. I'll also book a cheap rate at budget hotels--to rack up points quickly during promotions. Or on the odd occasion when all other options are prohibitively expensive. I'll chronicle most of these travels striving to explore a balance between high-end and budget/mid-range hotels in the cities I visit.

Upgrade Your Trip offers a millennial's view on:

  • tips and tricks to maximise loyalty points;
  • bargain airfares and hotel rates;
  • flight and hotel reviews;
  • industry news.
All travel is paid for by myself unless otherwise stated. I have taken all photos and videos on this blog, unless otherwise indicated.

If you are new to the hobby, I recommend you begin by reading through my 'how to guides' to get you started with easy-to-read and step-by-step strategies. Also make sure you check out the Frequent Flyer video.
